KETTLEBELL BOOT CAMP CLASSES – CHELSEA AREA

The next kettlebell boot camp begins January 23 and runs until February 24, 2012.

Boot camp is five weeks long and participants may choose 1, 2 or 3 day per week classes.

Boot camp meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:15pm-6pm and on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30pm-1:15pm.
Classes are held indoors at the Swedish Institute – 226 West 26th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

The rate for the five-week class is $125 1x/week, $200 2x/week, $225 3x/week. Pre-registration and payment in advance is required.

Kettlebells are provided. Bring water, a yoga mat, towels and a positive attitude.

Exercise of the month – The Turkish Get Up

The turkish get up is excellent for the entire body.

By holding the weight over the head throughout the movement, you engage almost every muscle of the body – the legs, core and arms while building strength, endurance and coordination.

This is also a great functional exercise, taking you from lying to standing and integrating every part of your body.

This move requires some concentration as well as coordination, so take your time moving through each step of the move and try it with no weight until you’re comfortable.

  • Lie down holding a medium kettlebell in the right hand, arm extended straight over the shoulder with the elbow locked.
  • Keeping the arm extended and looking up at the weight, raise up onto the left elbow as you bend the right knee.
  • Continue pushing up onto the left hand while crossing the left foot under the right leg.
  • Push up until you’re resting on the left knee and right foot, arm still extended straight up over the shoulder.
  • Continue until you’re in a standing position, with the arm overhead.
  • Lower back down the same way, arm extended, until you’re lying all the way on the floor and repeat a few times before switching sides.

Classes are held outdoors in Stuyvesant Square Park West @ 15th Street between 2nd and 3rd Ave.

The rate for the five-week class is $200 1x/week, $300 2x/week. Pre-registration and payment in advance is required.
Kettlebells are provided. Bring water, a yoga mat, towels and a positive attitude.

KETTLEBELL BOOT CAMP – HAMPTONS

Kettlebell boot camp is now available at three locations in the Hamptons.

  • Sag Harbor - Beside Bay Street Theater – Sunday 9:30am and Thursday 8am.
  • Wainscott Beach – At the end of Beach Ln – Saturday and Monday 9am.
  • East Hampton - Main Beach – Friday and Sunday 8am.

Each 3 week session will be held 2 days a week.

Session one will be held from July 14th through Aug 4th.

Session two will be held from August 11th through September 1st.

Class is run by Zenon Dolnyckyj.

The rate for the boot camp is $240 for 2 x/week  for 3 weeks or $150 for 1 x/week for 3 weeks. Pre-registration and payment in advance is required.

Kettlebells are provided. Bring beach towels and a positive attitude.
